Each year there are more than thousands of jewelry producers representing 30 countries take place in Dubai International Jewellery Exhibitions. In addition, Dubai International Jewellery Week is proud to present the Jewellery Design Awards, the most prestigious jewellery design competition in the Middle East. Since 2008, the competition has rapidly grown, attracting amateur and professional designers from across the world; each competing to be rewarded for excellence in the field of jewellery design and jewelry cards design, innovation and creativity.

An independent nonprofit organization, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is recognized as the world's foremost authority in gemology which is the partner with Dubai International Jewellery Week. Established in 1931, GIA has translated its expert knowledge into the most respected gemological education available. Early in the 1950s, GIA invented the famous 4Cs of Color, Cut, Clarity and Carat Weight. In 1953, the Institute created the International Diamond Grading System which, today, is recognized by virtually every jeweler in the world. This helps Dubai International Jewellery Week attract more trade buyers of jewelry and jewelry cards.

GIA Middle East, headquartered in Dubai, is strategically located in the Dubai Airport Free Zone. This Regional Branch comprises of an In-Take window and a fully functional classroom equipped with state-of the-art gemological testing equipment. The Regional Branch in Dubai will act as the hub for the remaining GCC jewelry market where stones from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, etc. will be collected in Dubai and then shipped to any of GIA's International Laboratories for Grading and Certification. GIA has laboratories in New York, Carlsbad, Bangkok, London, Mumbai, Johannesburg, Gaborone and Hong Kong.
